Hold on to your popcorn Parwich film buffs, I have it on good authority that Steven Spielberg is planning a multi million dollar blockbuster remake of Robin Hood the legendary outlaw. John Prescott has been approached and is said to be thrilled at the prospect of portraying his boyhood hero, He said ‘When I was a lad I would don my Lincoln green ,take up my trusty bow & arrows and risking life & limb I would rescue Maid Marion from the evil clutches of the Sheriff of Nottingham. Then after a desperate battle to the death I would slay the treacherous usurper Prince John, then I would herald the triumphant return of King Richard the Lionheart from the crusades, I would sweep Maid Marion off her feet and onto the back of my faithful steed and we would gallop off into the depths of the forest with the cheers of the people still ringing in our ears.’ Spielberg said’ sorry if I mislead you old chap but I’m actually casting for the part of Friar Tuck’.
Any western movie fans out there in Parwich Creek?, well saddle up cowboys its good news, Clint Eastwood is to direct a remake of that classic film “The Gunfight At The O,K Corral “based on the amazing discovery of an eye witness account of the legendary shootout tucked inside an old newspaper bought by a collector at a fleamarket in Tombstone,Arizona Mr Eastwood is quoted as saying ‘although the original film version is reasonably accurate there are certain discrepancies regarding the actual event ,for instance “Black Jack Bart was plugged in the heart, Snake Eyes Kelly got blasted in the belly, Wyoming Willy Wise Took a slug between the eyes and Purgatory Pete Pollocks had a lucky escape’.
It isn’t a film but it might just be its first appearance this year, No! it isn’t a confused migratory bird blown off course, it isn’t the Abominable Snowman either ,it is the jolly old Xmas Fayre menu spotted at a nearby pub recently. With only 14 weeks to go for that last minute shopping there is still time to plan your visit to the Outer Mongolian Xmas market. Get the edge on your neighbours by untangling your fairy lights and test them to avoid frustration later. Please spare a thought for the countless turkeys blissfully unaware of their impending fate, the seasonal ritual sacrificial offering to placate the Gods, evisceration followed by the undignified insertion of sage & onion stuffing. Such joy a Bacchenalian frenzy of overspending ,over indulgence & over familiarity, Did I really grope Doris our elderly tea lady at the office party?, Did I really get carried away with the bosses wife under the mistletoe?,.Never mind you will soon be staggering from your Xmas lunch table ,paper hat set at a rakish angle ready to collapse onto the couch for “The Queens speech” or if you fancy something longer ” The Kings Speech” followed by “Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Royalties”. Grandads snoring is barely audible under a heap of discarded Xmas wrappings The fairy lights flicker briefly and go off,’ pass the Quality Street please,’ turkey sandwich anyone?’. ‘Who’s got the nutcrackers?’.did someone mention Tia Maria darling?, Oh well, time for a brisk walk to the pub for some fresh air,Cheerio for now. HO!, HO, HO!.
