Our Weatherman in the Village says:
It looks like we’ve seen the last of the snow for a while, but we certainly got a lot. I didn’t manage to measure the total depth (did anyone record it?) but it looked over a foot to me. On that subject, of course the rain gauge will only measure liquid water so although the measurements were zero for most of the week, it doesn’t mean there was no precipitation.
The coming week looks like being relatively mild, windy and unsettled generally. After a week of difficult driving conditions, it will make a pleasant change.

Just been to Ashbourne, there is a lot of water on the road. It’s deepest in the usual places, i.e. the ‘ford’ at Ballidon Lane end and on the A515 a bit south of the Bentley Brook Inn. However there is a lot of melt water running onto the road everywhere, so watch out in the morning if it freezes.
There’s also quite a big flood on the A515 just north of the Bentley Brook, on the left hand side of the road as you approach Ashbourne. It’s too deep for most vehicles, so traffic is down to single lane, with cars queuing to use the east side carriageway.
Are you sure you mean north Mike? I think we are both talking about the same mega-puddle south of the Bentley Brook. There is also a lot of water running down the hill coming out of Fenny Bentley on the A515 to the north, where it goes under the Tissington Trail, which if it freezes will be dangerous.
Upon mature reflection,I think I do mean south after all! 🙂
