We have reports that the B5056 to the Bentley Brook is impassable at this time (9.30am on Saturday). A car has become stuck and there’s drifting. Intrepid villagers are checking out the Alsop Road. Send your comments into us if you have useful information.

Pikehall road is blocked, as they say, “its grim up north”
Good to hear that the snow plough has been through the village; this should improve things.
People are now getting through from Ashbourne on the B5056. The snow plough has apparently done an excellent job, it should now be fine unless there are more strong winds and drifting.
We drove from Nottingham via Ashbourne and had no problems. The B5056 is completely clear from the Bentley Brook through to the Parwich turning – but as of 1430 Saturday the snow plough had not continued north on the B5056 towards Bakewell, so there was a marked change in conditions.
I’ve also been told by Mike H that the Alsop road is passable with care.
Actually, our only real difficulty was digging our way indoors!
Thanks to David S, who I understand cleared the road out of Parwich to the B road. Very public spirited!
Sunday 11:30 am – Has anyone ventured out of Parwich to Ashbourne (via the B5056) this morning? If so, is it passable? The visitors in my s/c cottage are wondering whether they should risk it or stay an extra night. They only have a small-ish car, not a 4×4. I’ll be grateful for any information!
Saskia, just been to the Shop to get my paper. Steve had managed to collect the papers from Ashbourne, but struggled to get back, even in a 4X4. Janet said quite a few cars have gone past, but thinks many have given up and come back.
The route out via the B5056 is now passable with care (Sunday at 16.00). The B5056 is snow free once you’ve got to the Brabourne turning. The road out to The Red House however has patches where drifting might undo the good work of the snow plough given time.
Thanks for the snippets of advice. My cottage visitors eventually made a dash for it druring a short window of opportunity, and following up-to-date advice by, who else than, David S, I understand. They phoned me from an M6 Service Station to confirm they were well on their way home, having taken a considerable detour to avoid the Buxton, Leek and Macclesfield areas.
David certainly deserves a commendation for his hard work this weekend!
