“Posts of Note” is a brand new section on PARWICH.ORG, which catalogues some of our more noteworthy posts over the past six years. These might be of historical interest, or they might be reminders of particular village events. Some might contain useful information, others might contain particularly eye-catching photography, and others might simply raise a smile. Taken together, they hopefully form a kind of “potted history” of Parwich from 2008 to the present day.

For future reference, you can find links to this section from the Site Map, from the “About us” page, and from the “Elsewhere on PARWICH.ORG” section on the right-hand sidebar.
And finally… “Posts of Note” is my final piece of work for PARWICH.ORG, and this is my final post as a member of the blog team. As we will be moving up to Knaresborough (North Yorkshire) in the near future, it is sadly time for me to bow out of blogging duties, after six very busy but extremely rewarding years.
Thanks are due to all my fellow blog team members, both past and present. You have all been wonderfully supportive, and a pleasure to work with. And to the continuing blog team, may I wish you all the best for the future.
– Mike Atkinson

Mike you’ve done such fantastic work for the blog, you will be greatly missed in the village as well as on the blog.
Thanks to all of the Blog team you work very hard on our behalf and it is greatly appreciated.
Mike, the blog wouldn’t have existed without you. You were pivotal to it’s inception and continuing success. I have spent many happy, interesting hours reading your posts, so a very big thank you. We hope you will enjoy Knaresborough and all the new doors that will undoubtedly open.

On behalf of ‘Weedkiller Weekly “I would like to wish Mike & Kevin all the best in Knaresborough,It certainly looks delightful even with the flooding.I have taken the liberty of organizing membership for you both at your local British Legion which is situated behind the gasworks between ‘The Glassblowers Arms and the glue factory. The the ‘Up The Kaiber Indian takeaway is now reopened after fumigation and the twenty four hour Chinese restaurant ‘Wok Around The Clock both come highly recommended. We have arranged for you to meet your local neighbourhood watch representative as soon as he regains consciousness and is off the danger list after his attack.
Seriously, but not too seriously very best wishes from Paul & Evie.
P.S Watch out for ‘The Knaresborough Knocker’ a spin off from the ‘Weedkiller Weekly.
I can well remember one evening in our dining room way back over 6 years ago, Mike setting out his vision for the blog as a vehicle for disseminating information about the rebuild of the Memorial Hall, when most of us had no idea what a weblog was. He was positively evangelical about the medium, following the international success of his own music blog “Troubled Diva”. How little did we know how powerful and popular parwich.org would become.
We’ll done Mike – it was truly visionary, and has enriched our lives, as well as becoming an vital source of local information. We will miss your posts here, but more we shall really miss both you and K and wish you the very best in your new home.
Graham & Amanda
Kevin and Michael – thank you so much for all you have done in so many ways for the village — your friendly wave as we drive up creamery lane will be much missed… as well as seeing you over the wall tending your plants! wishing you all joy and happiness in your new home and ventures. take care, with very best wishes. you will be much missed – jean and martin xx
Thanks to all of you for your kind words. I can’t wait to get my hands on The Knaresborough Knocker…
Did you mean to put this comment here and not with the ‘Further Matching Pair‘ post?
Mike, John and I would like to add our very sincere thanks to you for all you have done. You truly were inspirational – you created something pretty special with the Parwich blog, which has become so much part of everyone’s lives now that it is hard to imagine village life without it. How would we know what state the roads were during the snow, or when to put which bins out on Wednesday? And what would John have done with all his photos? You and Kevin have contributed a lot to the village apart from the blog and we will miss you both. Hope Knaresborough is a great success. I know you’re not off just yet, but a big personal goodbye, good luck and thank you from your neighbours up the road, JFS and me.
