PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB
Now I know there important days in the year like Christmas and your birthday, but none get close to the day the bowls season starts. What an event. How did I miss its’ coming I hear you cry. Well you did and what a coming it was.
Matlock Tuesday bowls league.
Away – Wirksworth – 8 April
I am not sure what Edith takes, but whatever it is we all need some! We do have a break over the winter, but Edith must practise in her loft. She and Rick ( who did play very very well also ) won their game 21 – 7. Although we only won one more of the remaining three games the two we lost were by one point and three points giving us a win by 80 points to 68. A really good start to the season. In all honesty, however we do usually start well and fade as the season progresses. Let us hope we can buck the trend.
Next match – Home – Bakewell – 15 April 6.15pm.
Matlock Thursday Friendly League.
Home – Wirksworth – 10 April
Fixtures computers seem to have a way of sorting things out in odd ways occasionally and we played Wirksworth twice in the same week. The format for Thursday is three doubles games first to 21 and six singles, first to 15. We do tend to have a bit of a problem in the doubles games. However, although we did not score as many points we did win two out of the three. Audrey and Dennis leading the way, with John and Liz coming a good second. 50 points to 45 to Wirksworth.
In the singles we won all six games, what a team!. The best being Tony who won 15 – 3 and Harry 15 – 4. The overall score was 90 to 49, giving us victory by 135 to 99.
Next match – Away – Chatsworth B – 17 April 1.15pm
Two good wins, but next week I have a feeling we will come down with a bump, we will see. As every year we are in desperate need of new players. Please come and support the only major active club in the Village.
