I wish I didn’t have to raise the issue of dog fouling again, but having had to clear one from the side of our drive a couple of days ago and having run the mower into another one in the tall grass in front of the ‘egg shed’ on Creamery Lane today (which has been a favourite spot in the past!), it’s time to remind ALL dog owners to clear up after their dog AND never allow them to roam around the village. It’s so annoying.
Is it time for a dog rogues’ photo gallery on the blog so we can identify the doggy culprits, (and next step if the problem persists: name & shame the owners?!).
Although several of my S/C cottage visitors bring a dog, I have never seen their dogs being allowed to roam unaccompanied, and they always seem to clear up the mess. If ever you suspect otherwise, let me know please (440). Thank you.

A Different Sort of Cleaning Required!

I question the “Legality” of naming & shaming owners…………..opening a possible whole can of possible slanderous accusations here, not a smart idea.
I quite agree Saskia. There have been piles on the park and surrounding paths this week, plus along the stream and on the road above school. Last week people exercising their dog on the park failed to “pick up” until we got the camera out, but it was already too late for one little girl….:(
As the father of two small children, I often wonder why the children’s play area doesn’t have ‘no dogs allowed’ signs, or like many villages, a small fence around the children’s play equipment as well as signage?
I can only re-iterate that I really wish I didn’t have to raise the issue again, but the situation needs to change for the better. I believe we are all politely tip-toeing (!?!) around the issue of dog piles, with 2 or 3 Parwich dogs being mentioned time and time again by a number of local residents. I made very clear that ‘naming & shaming’ would be a last resort and only if nothing else has worked.
There are a couple of ‘no fouling’ signs at the bottom of the drive and at the stile further up, but I have never seen an unaccompanied dog stop and contemplate the meaning of the signs ….
I have no intention of accusing someone for allowing their dog to roam unaccompanied and/or failing to clear up afterwards without real proof, but here lies the problem: I do not necessarily overlook the areas where the fouling takes place, neither do I carry a camera to ‘catch the moment’ (also mentioned by Helen). However, I do occasionally see dogs roaming unaccompanied, which in itself is unacceptable. It would be good to be able to ‘identify’ the dog(s) with a high degree of certainty so I could contact the owners. I believe that responsible dog owners would not object to their dog, together with a contact number, being featured on a dog ID poster!
