What is the collective noun for jackdaws? It certainly didn’t sound like a ‘murmuration’ this evening as they gathered to roost over Creamery Lane. Residents will be hoping it is not repeated as part of the dawn chorus.
I am assuming it is jackdaws rather than rooks, as it is mainly jackdaws that come into the garden.

I found the following collective nouns for Jackdaws on the British Bird Lovers website (www.britishbirdlovers.co.uk/articles/collective-nouns-for-birds) –
Jackdaws – a clattering of jackdaws
Jackdaws – a train of jackdaws
It’s definitely more appropriate than the ‘murmuration’!
Well, it’s a relief we have not had another full on ‘clattering’ since.
