Thank you Margaret for this update:
The previous owner of the tabby cat who appeared in Smithy Lane last week, has been traced as the cat was microchipped.
Apparently this little cat had been rehomed from the village as a kitten 2 years ago and had gone to live in a town several miles away. Due to a change in family circumstances the cat had been brought back and subsequently escaped. Unfortunately she was in a very poor state when she was found. I took her to the vet used by Cheadle Animal Welfare Society, Meir Park Veterinary Hospital, where it was found that she had a broken tail and a huge abscess on her back. She has been put on a drip so will be staying in hospital for a few days. After which we will try to find her a new home once she has built up her strength. She weighed just 1.8kg and had become very weak.
She is a delightful little cat and I hope that she will soon be happy in a new home.
