I am sure bus users, like me, will want to thank parish council chairman, Michael Edge, his colleagues and their clerk, Andrew Martin, for working so hard to keep a village bus service. They have worked diligently with the community readily recognising the importance of regular services, vital lifeblood for quite a number in Parwich. Public meetings were well attended with parish councillors putting in an appearance to gauge support and enthusiasm.
Chris Hegarty of Derbys County Council’s public transport team said the completed questionnaires returned by more than 40 households convinced the authority to find a way forward which resulted in the new service, Derbyshire Connect.
It is an experiment by the council but very worthwhile. We shall have to use it if it is to become part of our way of life in Parwich in the future. Do become advocates! Next week it is FREE so leave your car at home and try the service.
