Anyone else seeing flaky BT broadband service? Over the past couple of weeks or so, I’ve seen around 10 or so short periods of zero internet connectivity here at Alsop, but this afternoon topped the lot at around four hours total. BT claim all is well.

BT Broadband driving me nuts, especially when I am trying work. Am now going over to BT fibre optics (whatever that is) to see if that is any improvement
Lucky you Malcolm – (I think)! Fibre optic will give you speeds orders of magnitude faster than ADSL (copper wire technology). Not sure about fibre’s reliability versus old copper though. At Alsop (an otherwise entirely lovely place to live) we might see fibre by 2022, but I’m not holding my breath. I’m loath to complain too much however – in terms of infrastructure, hamlets like Alsop are high cost and low priority – but heck, where this is the case, BT might at least give us dependable connectivity given the abysmal bandwidth available to us.
Meanwhile, like you we couldn’t work this afternoon: had to resort to driving around looking for a decent, publicly-shared wireless signal in order to get business-critical emails.
