PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB
Can’t grumble this week, well perhaps a little (that will make a change I hear you cry). Good bits and not so good bits. Already a quarter of the way through the season. You are rapidly missing out on some good exercise and good company.
Tuesday League
May 16 – Away – Bradwell.
As commented last week to get two full house scores in a row is good, but three in a row? Could the valiant few of Parwich continue to astound the Crown Green bowling fraternity, and without our brilliant Captain and Edith? Yes they could. Some great bowling by Tony A and Pat B produced a 21 – 4 win. This was followed by Sue A and John B putting together a 21 – 6 victory. Not to be outdone the husband and wife duo (you see you can play together if you want) of Dennis and Clara E won 21 – 13. It was all down to our final pair of Rick and Harry B to bring home the bacon which they did by winning 21 – 17. Parwich 84, Bradwell 40. Can we keep up this standard? Come down to Parsons Croft next Tuesday evening and see the wizards of the green stuff strut their stuff. (that’s probably given the team the kiss of death!)
Next Match – Wirksworth – Home – 23 May 6.30pm.
Thursday League
May 18 – Away – Hope Works.
We have, as you readers of these scintillating reports will know, been doing very well in this higher division we now find ourselves in, however a few of the wheels did fall off this week. You must bear in mind though that we have been through the wringer with regard to members injuries. I dread to think what Man U’s manager would have to say about things. Anyway, we lost quite well, but if the opposition play very long ‘jacks’ whilst playing against two ladies one of whom is still recovering from a broken wrist and the other with a bad ankle, what do you expect. After the doubles we were behind 63 – 27. We shared the singles games three apiece with Pat B showing how it should be done, winning 15 – 2. Still the singles gave us 78 – 68 points tally. The final outcome was never in doubt though with a victory for Hope Works 131 – 105.
Next match – Home – Bakewell – 25 May – 1.45pm.
John B.
