PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB
Nearly at the longest day and half way through the season. The team is doing well at the moment even though results might not reflect it.
Tuesday League.
June 13 – Away – Ashwood Park.
Because of holidays we were down to a bear minimum team with no players in reserve. The ones who were there, however did us proud. Husband and wife team of Audrey and Harry B got us well on the way with a 21 – 10 win. Clara and Dennis E another husband and wife pair battled well, but were beaten 21 – 13. Edith and Rick rectified the score by a 21 – 12 win. Unfortunately our final pair came unstuck big-time going down 21 – 5. The final overall result was Ashwood 64, Parwich 60. If before the match a score of 64 – 60 was on offer we would have taken their hand off. To only lose by 4 points was excellent. Another away match next week, but it sure is a nice place to play.
Next Match – Chatsworth – Away – 20 June, 6.30pm.
Thursday League
June 15 – Away – Whitworth Park.
Did well in terms of numbers even though quite a few people were on holiday. Unfortunately our doubles pairs could not get close to the opposition and we finished 34 – 63 down. Ian J and Clara E did really well against one of Whitworths best pairs. Similarly Liz H and Rick M got us a creditable 15 points.
The singles games were a struggle, but our new member Keith B played his socks off again and won 15 – 3. Our Edith strutted her stuff to get a 15 – 6 victory and John H also squeaked in 15 – 14 to give us our final singles win.
The final score was Whitworth 131, Parwich 107. Next week we entertain Hope Works who are top of the league. Should be interesting!
Next match – Home – Hope Works – 22 June – 1.45pm.
