PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB
I suppose one consolation for only having one match this week is that we can only lose once, which indeed we did! However, I have great, if misleading fortitude, for the rest of the season. Hope springs eternal as they say.
Tuesday League.
July 18 – Blank week.
Next week we travel to Bakewell which is a problem in a number of ways, not least of which is trying to find somewhere to park. Always assuming you can find somewhere that is slightly closer than Chatsworth you then have to play on their green. Notwithstanding the fact that they are a great bunch of people the green is really tricky. Most greens are predominantly square whereas Bakewell’s is very oblong due to the fact you are playing in a very narrow public park overlooked on the sides by buildings. We will have to see how we get on.
Next Match – 25 July – Away – Bakewell, 6.30pm.
Thursday League
July 20 – Home – Hathersage – 1.45.
Not even our redoubtable singles players could rescue us this week. Our doubles pairs, however, played well against strong opposition. Harry and Audrey B cancelling a loss by winning 21 – 10. Ian J and Sue A, although losing played very well. After the doubles we only trailed Hathersage by 7 points.
The singles, although the games were shared 3 each, did not go well. It’s points that win prizes and their defeats were not as great as ours. Since joining the Club this year Keith B has only lost one game and again this week he was one of our three winners, Edith and Tony A being the other two. Their victories though were not good enough to give us a win. Final score Parwich 109, Hathersage 127.
Next match – Away – Bradwell – 27 July – 1.45pm.
MONDAY NIGHT IS BOWLS NIGHT
6.30pm – 7.30pm.
Don’t forget that on Mondays we are at Parsons Croft and we need the practise more than ever. All we need is you.
PS. If you can’t make Mondays just let Tony (724) or John (455) know and we will arrange an alternative.
John B.
