PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB

Penultimate match in the Tuesday League this week and only two more matches left in the Thursday League. Not a lot to play for in either league really except of course your bowling village stalwarts have just about survived another season. The way things are shaping however the end of the bowls club could be not too far away. I wonder what the green could be used for?

Tuesday League.
Home – August 29 – Ashwood Park.
For the first time since I can remember our opponents only turned up with 7 instead of 8 players. It was probably just as well as the chap playing on his own scored 15 points with his two woods. We thankfully managed to score 21 with our four woods. Dot and John B have been playing like demons for the past few weeks and they continued their purple patch winning 21 – 2. Rick and Edith came home winners 21 – 14. Our ever present captain Dawn playing with Tony romped home 21 – 19. The final score Parwich 84, Ashwood Park 50. Great result which should keep us in a safe place in the league.
Final Match – Home – Chatsworth – 5.45pm

Thursday League
Away – Tideswell – 31 August.
Now for most of this season the writing has been on the wall for us to be relegated from the  top division. What a surprise when the league table after last weeks results put Parwich fourth from bottom. In this league the bottom three get relegated!! It was essential that we lost the match against Tideswell who were the team immediately above us to ensure that we are relegated. Thankfully we played to our strengths and promptly lost the doubles 29 to 63. The singles players needed to do equally badly. Our two star lady players, Dawn and Edith were missing so losing was certainly on the cards! We played very well considering the gravity of the situation and finished up winning the singles 77 – 62. Not enough to give us a win thank goodness. Final score Tideswell 125, Parwich 103. Even if we had won, the final two matches are against teams who are much higher in the league than we are so congratulations to Tideswell.
Next match – Home – Whitworth Park – 7 September – 1.45pm

MONDAY NIGHT IS BOWLS NIGHT
6.30pm – 7.30pm.
