PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB
Last match in the Tuesday League and penultimate match in the Thursday League. Could we go out in a blaze of glory, or a whimper?
Tuesday League.
Home – 5 September – Chatsworth.
Really nice bunch of people play for Chatsworth so win or lose we would enjoy the games. Both Edith and Dawn were away so we had to have a bit of a scratch team. Tony playing with Clara got us of to a great start winning 21 – 9. Similarly Pat and Sue strolled home winners 21 – 15. You can probably have a guess what happened in the two remaining games. Well John B and Dot had been playing as though their lives depended on it, winning games at a canter for the past 3 or 4 weeks, not this week though. They spluttered and coughed their way to a defeat 12 – 21. Rick playing with Harry this week against Chatsworth’s best pair just lost by 5 points. The final score Parwich 70, Chatsworth 66. Not our most convincing win, but a win never the less. Before this last match were were lying in fourth place in the league and if my calculations are correct we should just about hold our own there.
Thursday League
Home – Whitworth Park – 7 September.
Another nice bunch of people to play against. They are considerably higher in the league than us, but then who isn’t. Things did not auger well as in two of our doubles games we only managed a combined score of 10 against 42! However Rick, having to play twice because of our lack players, playing with Audrey showed how it could be done and clawed back some of the deficit by winning 21 – 12. Parwich 31, Whitworth 54.
The singles was thankfully another story as we won 5 out of the 6 games and the sixth game we only just lost. Tony won 15 – 4, Keith 15 – 7, Pat B and Rick 15 – 8. The combined scores were Parwich 87, Whitworth 55. Although I am sure that we will be relegated we still managed a win 118 – 109. Last game of the season is against the team top in the league so that will definitely seal our fate.
Last match – Away – Hope Works – 14 September – 1.45pm
No Monday night play now. We will be putting the green to bed for the winter.
John B.

Well done to everyone I think I need to go away a bit more
