This may be useful info for locals who use the road along the Carsington dam:
The road along the section of the dam of Carsington reservoir is closed from Tuesday – Thursday, 16-18 May, i.e. between the entrance slip-road to the Visitor Centre and Millfields CP, due to a simulation emergency planning exercise. You can still use the footpath below the dam to walk round, but there is no vehicle access along that road section.
I believe that the official diversion for vehicles is through Wirksworth, but that smaller vehicles could use the much shorter route through Hognaston.
