Is anyone having Fibre broadband installed in their property any time soon? I noticed Open Reach vans in the village yesterday but they were gone by the time I went to speak to them.
I’d like to upgrade to Fibre at Brook Cottage (it would actually be cheaper to upgrade than remain on my current broadband now my initial contract has expired) but I need to be able to explain the scope of work required to get permission from my landlords. If anyone has Open Reach technicians at their property can you please let me know so I can make enquiries with them?
Many thanks
Dani

Hi Dani, we’re near the Sycamore and had full fibre installed recently with Plusnet who run on the Openreach infrastructure.
They came and installed it fairly easy and we got permission from our landlord really easy, the process is fast and is not very invasive as far as altering the property goes.
They drilled through the wall to feed the cable through and that’s about it, they were really good with figuring out how to do it as our property is also in an awkward place, if you have a telegraph pole near you it will most likely come from that rather than underground work being done.
I think it might be better to contact your potential new Internet provider rather than open reach to explain the situation, they’ll most likely send someone out to see what’s what if it’s a really tricky one.
The Openreach engineer that installed ours was brilliant and came fully prepared with a cherry picker, they tend to be really good so I wouldn’t worry too much.
Hope that helps.
