The new film picks up two years after Downton Abbey: A New Era, with much of the film’s action centred on the scandal a divorce.
Elsewhere, the question of Downton’s future is always on the table, with many wondering what will become of the fortune left from the wealthy family of Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham (Elizabeth McGovern).
When Mary finds herself in a public scandal and the family faces financial trouble, the household grapples with the threat of social disgrace. The Crawleys must embrace change with the next generation leading Downton Abbey into the future. Bringing back original cast members, including Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, and Elizabeth McGovern, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale follows the family and their staff as they enter the 1930s and lead Downton Abbey into the future.
