June Parwich Film Show OCEAN

OCEAN WITH DAVID ATTENBOROUGH -a full length documentary- is a breathtaking journey showing there is nowhere more vital for our survival, more full of life, wonder, or surprise, than the ocean.

Through spectacular sequences featuring coral reefs, kelp forests and the open ocean, Attenborough shares why a healthy ocean keeps the entire planet stable and flourishing.

Stunning, immersive cinematography showcases the wonder of life under the seas and exposes the realities and challenges facing our ocean as never-before-seen, from destructive fishing techniques to mass coral reef bleaching. Yet the story is one of optimism, with Attenborough pointing to inspirational stories from around the world to deliver his greatest message: the ocean can recover to a glory beyond anything anyone alive has ever seen.

Guardian *****  Ocean with David Attenborough review – a passionate case against the ruination of the seas- Released on his 99th birthday and presented in the context of his remarkable career, Sir David’s authority is matched only by nature’s grandeur in this visually stunning film

Time Out “If you’ve watched BBC nature documentaries over the last decade, you’ll have seen similar images, but only the coldest of souls could ever tire of the sight of dolphins and seabirds all swarming around an undulating ball of silver fish. On the cinema screen it looks more breathtaking than it ever could on TV”

Dog mess on Parsons Croft

West View have yet again had to pick up dog mess on Parsons Croft just next to where there is a multi school kids event going on…

The dog mess is from an extremely large dog and it isn’t a small amount! It is also a regular occurrence.

We will all be keeping an eye out and if anyone is spotted leaving dog mess they will immediately be reported for a possible fine.

If you are using Parsons Croft for dogs, which like many I do too, then be responsible take your dog to the bottom of the field to do its business away from where the kids play and PICK IT UP! Don’t just let them run around and don’t watch them as that’s when it happens! We are watching you.

There’s a dead ewe in the field up on the Parwich hill. Unsure who this mob belongs to but she’s right by the public right of way.

Postal Vote Renewal

Info shared by Derbyshire Dales District Council

Changes brought in by the Elections Act 2022, mean postal votes now expire every 3 years and need to be renewed.

If an elector applied for a postal vote before 31 October 2023, they must renew it by 31 January 2026 to keep voting by post. If they don’t renew it, they will need to vote in person at their polling station.

Due to the volume of postal voters who will need to make a new application by 31 January 2026 we are asking that they do so as soon as possible.

  • To upload a photo of a handwritten signature in black ink on plain white paper

All electors who are required to make a new application before 31 January 2026 will be sent a paper form later in the year. Electors do not need to contact the elections team to request this.

A copy can be downloaded by visiting https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote

Completed forms should be returned to Electoral Services, Derbyshire Dales District Council, Town Hall, Matlock, DE4 3NN or email to electoral@derbyshiredales.gov.uk
