Parwich Village Action Group – Children, Teenagers and Young Adults
The original Management Plan included objectives relating to improving the children’s play area on the Green, which were achieved. The Review highlighted the needs of teenagers and young adults. The following was included in the 2004 Management Plan:
Aims:
- Identify the social/recreational needs of older children and teenagers in the village.
- Involve children/teenagers fully in this process.
Planned Action:
- Identify the current needs and appropriate course of action.
Comments
In 2004 Sub-Group looking at the needs of teenagers and young adults got off to an enthusiastic start developing plans for a skateboard park in the village. The Police were interested in financially supporting the project, but quickly our sixth form age members were distracted by A Levels, the demand for a skateboard area diminished locally and a skateboard park was set up in Ashbourne.
At present the Action Group has no one active in this area, but also the passage of time has meant that the play area for young children requires upgrading. The Parish Council has asked that this be included in any review of the Management Plan.
Also as part of the planning for the new Memorial Hall information has been gathered on the needs of younger people and how these can be met in the new Hall. Any review would use this as a starting point.
