Parwich Village Action Group – Roads & Traffic
In both the 2000 and the 2003 Surveys, various issues were raised relating to roads, traffic and parking. The following was included in the 2004 Management Plan:
Aims:
- Ensure traffic in the village does not exceed safe speeds
- Investigate solutions to parking difficulties
Planned Action:
- No planned action was identified, other than the Coordinating Group having a watching brief, because too few people volunteered to follow up these aims.
Comments
The situation in relation to parking has changed since the 2004 update with the closure of the Spar Shop easing parking, but also with the implications of the planned reduction in parking spaces on the Memorial Hall site. A traffic survey has been undertaken as part of the planning application for the new Memorial Hall. On their visit in January 2009 the Peak Park Authority were very interested in the idea of Parwich having a reduced speed limit as part of a pedestrian and car shared space, with as few as possible road signs within the village.
It is now important to identify how the community wants to move forward and for volunteers to come forward to work with Highways, the Peak Park and the Parwich Parish Council to take action.
