Following the previous post on the successful resurfacing of the hard play area and the community work day, Di Turnbull has sent us further information:
P.A.R.C. stands for Play Area Resurfacing Committee. It was set up purely to organise the resurfacing of the hard play area. It is a sub-committee of the Parish Council. After the opening on the 20th April, recommendations for the maintenance and upkeep of the area will be forwarded to the Parish Council and then P.A.R.C. will disband.
We are hoping to have a preliminary meeting during April for anyone who has an interest in managing, maintaining and promoting the whole of the Parson’s Croft sporting area – a new ‘Field Management Committee’. This would involve all user groups – cricket, tennis, bowls, football, netball etc.- Parish council reps. and adjoining residents (or any residents for that matter), who would like to play an active role in this fantastic facility. We are so lucky to have it and would like to keep it in tip-top condition.
Di also added the following discussion point:
A couple of years ago, I set up a fundraising section on the Tennis Club website, which has clickable banners. These have tracking codes embedded and earn the Club commission on sales. It has been working fine so far but could be much more widely used. For some time I have been wondering how to open this up to the whole village, as I’m sure many people buy internet goods, who are not aware of this scheme. There are lots of banners on the site and it’s just a matter of clicking through the link to the merchant. There is a ‘Fundraising Sitemap’, which shows all the companies and their commission rate. Then there are the two links pages, split into categories – one with general companies and another for sports gear.
If enough funds were raised, this may be an opportunity to benefit all user groups/villagers in relation to the Parson’s Croft area.
(Pheadair’s note: We have not addressed the issue of using PARWICH.ORG to generate income yet and we see extending community involvement as our first priority, though a few people have already made suggestions and it is planned that we will participate in the Memorial Hall fund raising. Do add your thoughts.)
