It is great how so many people are commenting on posts. Hopefully the more debate the better informed we will all be, and PARWICH.ORG will be an increasingly accurate reflection of the whole community. However, don’t forget you can also create your own new posts by emailing them to parwich@hotmail.co.uk.
Some excellent photos are coming in; please keep them coming (as JPG or GIF attachments wherever possible, please; Word documents and printed hard copies are harder to reproduce). The details of events and groups are great; please send more. But you can also send in opinion pieces and items for discussion. Residents of Alsop, Pikehall and Ballidon: we want to hear more from you. Young people: we want to hear more from you.
As long as it is relevant to the residents of Alsop, Ballidon, Parwich and Pikehall, we want you to send it in. Controversy is brilliant; as long as it does not fall foul of the laws of libel or obscenity, or invade other people’s privacy, we want you to send it in.
Just a few words of warning…
- If sending in photos or information not already in the public domain that contain someone’s full name, address, phone number or email, please check they are happy with it.
- Generally it is probably best only to use first names, or first names plus the first letter of the surname (e.g. Fatima W).
- When using local phone numbers, it is generally best to use only the last three digits; everyone local will know the rest (e.g. 123).
- Don’t mention when people are on holiday, especially if their home is left empty (you don’t know who is looking at the site).
- Similarly try to avoid indicating specific times of the day when people’s houses will be empty.
- Don’t mention, unless the owners are happy about it, personal property (e.g. that Picasso at Fawlty Towers); again, you don’t know who is looking at the site. This is also relevant if you are using photos taken indoors.
- If you know the identity of someone using an online alias (e.g. pheadair is really Peter T), don’t reveal that online; respect their online privacy. Oops … … … just did! However, Peter T is OK about this, as most people know already.
- Remember if you comment on other people online, you will still have to meet in the Shop, in the Legion, on the bus or over the garden wall. A good rule of thumb is not to say online what you would not be willing to say to someone face to face.
- Don’t worry about using aliases – this is usual in ‘cyberspace’ – but also remember if you do say something too provocative, people will think they know who you are. That is not a problem if they guess correctly; the potential problems arise when they guess incorrectly, and someone else is held responsible for your views or statements.
So far the above have broadly been observed, but don’t get carried away in the heat of the moment. If you do submit a comment and subsequently want it modified, you can get the Blog team to do this by emailing parwich@hotmail.co.uk. We will make the modification, and indicate that the comment has been altered at the request of the person that made it.

Also, if you have an event poster you want us to put up on the site, we can do that if you are able to send it in electronically. We will save it as an image file and post it as if it was a photograph.
