Parwich was outstandingly represented in the Bradbourne Fell Race – a hard & wet 6 mile run, crossing the stream twice & up exceptionally muddy banks. The nearest fells maybe a couple of hours drive away, but it “felt like fell running”. Parwich runners included Paul & Alex D, Graham J & Nia L, George & Charlie S, Rannoch, Thayer, Bertie & Lexie L – 5 of the 6 members of the Linnell family ran this punishing course, with Ed as official photographer.
When asked, Graham said his tactics for the race were to focus on a nice woman’s backside & follow it – “I found a good one this year”. His wife said “It’s never going to be mine!!” Comments from the younger athletes ranged from “easy” to “very hard”. However ‘son of’ says “Mine’s a Chicken Tikka Masala with Naan”. Graham who failed in the challenge is buying alot of curries tonight.
The guts and determination by all the runners was inspiring (not quite enough to make me want to join in). To see our younger runners, 4 of whom were between 7 & 11, having the attitude ‘I’ll give it a go, I will do this’ should bode well for 2012, let’s hope it becomes infectious.

“How big has this curry got to be?”

Jane – very kind of you not to explicitly state I was beaten by both “sons of”. I suppose there is some kind of rough justice here for my dubious race tactics. – Anyone know where I might get a cheap mortgage?
