From the 13th April 2009 all bulk domestic LPG customers, that are supplied LPG via a bulk tank, can switch their LPG supplier along with their tank. If you are an existing LPG customer you will be advised by your existing supplier when you will become eligible to switch.
When you switch supplier, you have the choice of transferring the ownership of the tank from your existing supplier to the new supplier (assuming that your existing supplier legally owns the tank) or you can request a new tank to be installed.
To find the details of domestic bulk LPG suppliers in this area, click here and type in your post code.
If you decide to switch then you should contact your existing supplier, and/or the new supplier in writing to request that your existing contract is terminated. Please be aware that a new supplier is not obliged to accept a new customer and they may have a number of reasons why they cannot offer to supply you.
Let us know if you have pricing details from local suppliers and tell us whether they provide good (or bad) service. We can share the information on this site for comparison purposes.

It would be really helpful to compare notes from others who have propane.
We get ours from Flogas, and I don’t think we can honestly say we’ve had good service. We are on a top-up contract with them, and several times I have had to call them out as we have nearly run out, and once during the depths of winter we actually did run out. Ended up spending a weekend without heating.
I complained about the service and price, and our propane unit price was then reduced from over 50p per litre to our current 42.25p
Would really like to know what anyone else is paying – especially if its less!
Well Graham, you’re getting your LPG cheaper than we are! Our current price (from Flogas without contract) is 38.35p per litre plus a 10.90p ‘surcharge’. Looks like I need to do some negotiating….
We’ve recently been offered a 12 month contract with a price of 41.25p guaranteed to October.
On the positive side, their service has been ok for us. We’ve used them for nearly 4 years and their top-up service has been pretty reliable.
Would be very interested to hear from others on their prices and experiences.
Hi
I noticed your comments and would like to offer a visit from an agent for your gas supply if you live in the following areas.
Pricing for LPG gas changes on a monthly basis of which DGS are currently offering 0.34p per ltr which would be a good guideleine when negotiating the price with your supplier.
Historically, the general pattern of gas prices are more expensive in the winter months than in the summer. As such, if you can arrange for top-ups in the summer months, you will benefit of annual savings across the year.
Please give contact me (01302 328100 or jan.chesley@discountgassupplies.co.uk) if you live in the following areas as I will not be beaten on price:
Yorkshire
Humberside
Lincolnshire
Nottinghamshire
Many thanks for taking the time to read this and I will look forward to hearing from you.
Kindest Regards
Jan Chesley
We have just received a letter from Flogas which informs us (unbidden) that our gas price is being reduced from beginning of May to 35p per litre with no surcharge!
Amazing what a bit of competition can do eh?
Absolutely Graham! Makes you think about the length of time they’ve been taking the cream. Wonder what prices other companies can offer…..
I rang Flogas today and have now been offered 35p a litre. Thank you Graham – I owe you a pint or two!
The offer is conditional on a one year contract. Is yours on that basis too?
Actually Mike, it doesn’t specifically say it’s linked to any condition, although we do have a contract with Flogas (I’m not sure how the change in legislation affects it – I’d have to read the small print).
If you want to compare notes, perhaps I can call in that pint (or two) and bring my documents over to the Sycamore and we can use a bit of consumer power to our mutual advantage?
Cheers – mine’s a Drambui shandy….. :o)
OMG where did that emoticon come from???!!!
– Pehaps I’ll just go for a pint of lemonade and lime :o/
