Just driven back from Ashbourne and the B5056 has been closed again at Fenny Bentley. As soon as we have any more details we will post them on the blog.
Added later on Tuesday: Highways contacted the Blog Team to say that the road has been closed today because of further movement in the land slip. At present they do not know how long the road will be closed, though it is likely to be some months. They will keep us up to date with their plans and any progress.

I recall extactly the same pattern of events occuring on the Sheffield – Chapel-en-le-Frith road at Mam Tor in the 1970’s.
The road was never re-opened.
I have spoken to Highways this morning. The Consultants, who investigated the landslip when the road was closed in June, have indicated four possible options. The County Council are currently deciding which option to go ahead with, but hope that work will start in 3 or 4 months. The work is likely to take another 3 or 4 months. Their website has a projected end date in May 2010, though presumably this will be subject to updating once they have finalised the programme of work.
Highways will keep us informed of their plans and let us know when they have a more concrete time scale.
Please note there is also a further planned temporary closure of the B5056 at Longcliffe between 1st and 16th October (see http://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/applications/old/road_closures/ ). This will be by Curzon Lodge, north of the crossroads at Longcliffe.
Does anyone know if it is possible to cycle past the landslip?
I went this lunch time to take some photos. It is certainly possible to get past on a bike (bikes were not all that are still using the road), but you can definitely see the signs of recent movement so it may not be advisable.
