Simon our postman will be doing his round for the last time on 2nd January after 11 years delivering the post to the people of Parwich. We could not have wished for a more dedicated and helpful person to deliver our mail. Through rain, snow and shine, Simon has always looked after us with a smile and a wave. We will be very sorry to see him go.
It was wonderful therefore to have the opportunity this afternoon to thank him and his wife Barbara.
The presentation was made at St. Peter’s church, following a lovely carol service hosted by The Methodists. The choir made the service, with some beautiful music, sung in all sorts of styles.
Towards the end of the service, Martin C said a few words to explain to Simon how much we appreciated him. Martin then announced that a ‘special delivery’ was to be made by ‘Postman Bert’….
Suddenly, a bicycle raced up the central aisle, intent on making the most important delivery of the day.
The delivery was successfully made. The village had raised £400 for Simon. A special card had been produced with an aerial view of Parwich. There were eight pages of signatures inside!
There was no need for Simon to sign for the collection that had been made for him.
Thank you very much Simon for the care you have taken over the years…and thank you Barbara for looking after Simon so well! We wish you both a very happy retirement. Please come to Parwich often!

What a beautiful picture of Simon and Barbara. We wish them well in retirement and look forward to seeing them over in Western Australia very soon…

Dear Friends,
I have now finally retired from the Royal Mail and thought it a good time to write to you all.
Barbara & I would like to thank you for the warm welcome you gave us at the Carol service in December.
I am overwhelmed with the collection you made along with the book showing all your kind wishes. I certainly wasn’t expecting that. I have yet to decide what I’m going to buy.
That you all very much. I wish you all the best and a happy new year.
Kind regards,
Simon
