John and I thought some people might be interested to know about the Riverford Organic Box scheme which we have joined and are absolutely delighted with. We get a veggie box each week, and quite often add to it with fruit, yogurts, cheese etc. You can order meat too, but we haven’t tried that yet.
Everything is organic, very fresh and – so far- quite delicious. It is not all local – for example at the moment tomatoes, peppers etc are coming (never by air) from Spain or France. They claim to be cheaper than supermarkets (and the quality is certainly very much better) and deliver free to Parwich and surrounding area, on Fridays.
If anyone would like to find out a bit more before possibly committing themselves, do give us a ring on 519. I hasten to say we have absolutely no connection at all with Riverford, apart from as satisfied customers! We are just so pleased we thought we’d like to pass on the news.

Hi: I use them, too… but in London, where the veg come from the original Devon farm. I use the mini box and it’s ample for one plus! I order the chutney and beanie burgers, too. And the on-site recipes are excellent. Sometimes there will be recipes ideas on site for the veg of the week, too. Do try them. H, staying in Parwich this weekend
What a great idea!!!!!!
Buy things from outside the village, importing from Spain and France, not just veg but cheese and yoghurts and the list could be never ending by the look of things. Parwich lost it’s village shop and now has it again because of the Sycamore. The ols saying comes to mind “If you don’t use it you may lose it AGAIN”.
Thank you Marion for sharing this information with us – what a shame there was such a petty response. The Riverford products are organic and as far as I know, are not available at the shop at the Sycamore. It is perfectly possible to support Janet and subscribe to the box scheme. I am fed up with all the moaning on the blog, can I suggest that an alternative forum is set up – it could be called Parwich whingers.org.
