Water was switched off in Parwich today. Seven Trent switched on the water at 2pm, but unfortunately the water has not reached the village yet. Seven Trent are currently driving around the village trying to find the problem/leak. They will do everything they can, as soon as they can but………..

9.50 pm and we’ve just spoken to Severn Trent – apparently only 8 houses (including ours) are still affected.
They are trying to get us all reconnected. We spoke to the pub a few minutes before calling Severn Trent and it still seemed to be a widespread problem (ie not just 8 houses)…?
10-15 pm I suspect 8 houses is an under estimate as I know of at least three on the Green.
The 24 hour emergency contact number for Severn Trent Water is tel. 0800 7076 442. They repeated that only 8 properties were thought to be effected, but will review it.
I now know of 6 others that are not on the Green, including the Legion and the Pub…..
In theory, if my understanding is correct, all resdiential properties that were affected beyond 5.00pm (in our case) may get a £20 refund from Severn Trent. (Not that this is the issue.) See their Guaranteed Service Standards: http://www.stwater.co.uk/upload/pdf/B5067_-_COP_GSS_pdf_for_web_20080721110807.pdf
Who knows….
No water at O.F. from miday to now 22.47. 7 Trent no help at all on the phone. At least you cant wash up after dinner! John F-S.
22:50 Just spoken to STW who still thought the the effected zone was 8 properties. As we are still off on Creamery Lane it would appear to be effecting people accross pretty much the whole village. The repair that was carried out earlier re-burst when the supply was re-instated.
The nice man at STW enquired about progress whilst I hung on and the latest info is that the supply will be coming back on shortly BUT 8 properties will be left off supply when the re-zoning in carried out. Deciphering this it probably means that there is a pipe work problem feeding the 8 houses that needs more work but a wider zone needed to be switched out to enable some work to be done…
11-10pm My water is back on, hopefully everyone else is back on too. If not, it is worth ring Severn Trent to make sure they know about you, given their confusion earlier saying 8 houses are off when it must have been well on the way to 100.
PS Don’t forget the clocks change tonight.
23:22 – Ours still off 😦
One other thing I was told is that several valves in several areas need to be operated manually so it will be a gradual process of turning the water back on across the village.
Not a drop here yet (11.35). If they are clever enough to know it is only 8 houses (and here at Orchard Farm there are three separate units – our house and our two holiday cottages – all paying water rates) you’d think they’d be able to identify where the problem is.
We have friends staying who are kind enough to think it is funny. Our two holiday cottage guests have paid good money to have a stress free relaxing holiday in the Peak District; both lots went out walking all morning, returning home at 1.30ish to have an eagerly awaited bath or shower and cup of tea. They are still waiting. We feel deeply concerned – goodness knows what they are feeling.
I have just spoken (again) to Severn Trent. According to Anne, the burst has now been repaired but they have to ‘recharge’ slowly to avoid a second burst and we should have water within an hour…
