Thank you to John F-S for these photos taken at last Saturday’s concert by the de Parys Trio (Eric Hill on guitar, Jill Hughes on flute and Martin Hughes on violin).
With a range of music, including Bach, Gluck, Paganini, Carulli, Rossini and others, there was something for everyone from classical through romantic to tango and jazz. Though numbers were a little down on last year the evening could hardly have been better. The only fly in the ointment was a potential clash with the musical neighbours, but they generously suspended activity ’til the concert was over.

As well as hearing such a high standard of playing in a rural parish church, it was worth going for the interval refreshments, with exceptionally tasty nibbles provided by villagers. The evening was sponsored by Longcliffe Calcium Carbonates and raised some £350 for the Church restoration fund. This should be about enough to enable the newly restored bell to be put back into the tower.
Look out for the video clips that will be posted here at parwich.org soon, and put 7-30pm Saturday 13th November into your diary when the next concert will by Choral Gems given by St Mary’s Choir from Nottingham (one of Christopher Harrison’s new parishes). The Choir, directed by John Keys has been described as “probably the best choir in the region”.
