PARWICH BOWLS CLUB – Week commencing 10 August 2010.
Tuesday League – Home – Bradwell.
Bradwell are just 20 points behind us in the league. It looked as though we were going to do very well after the first game, but in the end we only won one game to Bradwell’s three.
However, we did not lose indeed we each got 66 points – a draw.
Because of last week’s great win and teams around us this week not doing so well we have moved up to fourth place in the league.
Next match – Away – 17 August – Ashwood Park 6.15 start.
Thursday League.
As mentioned last week we did not have a league match, but played in the Greenaway Charity game at Wirksworth. The Greenaway Workshop is for disabled people.
The turnout was a record with 26 pairs taking part in Wirksworth and 24 pairs in Whitworth Park.
Parwich members have had quite a bit of success over the years and this year was no exception, with Ian Johnston winning the Plate tournament. Ian only joined us this year and although he has played a little ‘flat green’ bowls up until coming to live in Parwich, he had never been on a ‘Crown Green’. A great achievement, many congratulations.
In addition to Ian’s great win the Charity will have well in excess of £1000 to put into their funds.
Next match – Away – Whitworth Park – 19 August.
