Week commencing 30 August 2010.
Last week of the season in one league and penultimate week in the other. Perhaps it is just as well judging by our results. We started the season poorly and improved in the middle, but we have dropped off considerably at the end.
Tuesday League – Away – Bakewell.
Up until this week we had managed to overtake Bakewell in the league. We were fourth and they were fifth. The match however reversed our standings and we were well beaten 81 points to 50. Our final position therefore fifth out of twelve.
It is somewhat of a victory, however, for the team members of the Tuesday League. We have about ten players who we can pick a team from. This means that if someone is on holiday, or more specifically in our case is ill, then pressure is very much put on the remaining players. It cannot be stressed enough that with the dramatic reduction in playing members, due predominantly to ill health, if we do not get more members the team will cease. A sad affair after 20 years.
Thursday League – Away – Matlock Golf Club.
If there can be a good loss then I suppose this could be described as it. We did accumulate a good points tally losing 123 points to 142. At present we are seventh in the league so hopefully this result will keep us in that position.
Last match – Home – Tideswell – 9 September 1.45.
