PARWICH BOWLS CLUB:
Thursday 9 September 2010 – Home – Tideswell.
Last game of the season and what a cracker. Having finished rather ignominiously last week in the Tuesday League against Bakewell, we made up for things in the final match in the Thursday League.
We were played against Tideswell who are a much bigger club than us. They were on a couple of places below us in the League and only 16 points behind us.
The format of the Thursday League is 3 doubles to 21(63) and six singles to 15(90). The maximum score you can get is 153. We got 149!! We won all three doubles for the first time this year and four of the singles, only narrowly missing out in the two singles games we lost.
Fairly confidently we can predict we finished sixth in the League.
We now have a break for a month or so and then we move indoors to play ‘short mat bowls’ in Ashbourne on Monday afternoons. If you would like a try then speak to a member of the Bowls Club.
We don’t actually stop going to the green either. A considerable amount of work takes place readying the Green for winter. If you want to know how to get your lawn ‘like a bowling green’ come and have a look.
Enjoy your winter sports. Roll on April 2011. Can’t wait.
