As a number of people have already said, what a great day! Many thanks to Rob, Shaun, Tracy and the many others who organised the event. Although the change of date and venue forced by problems with insurance resulted in fewer competitors than last year, those who stepped up produced a close fought competition.
With old favourites and some new rounds there were ten challengers competing in six events:

Overall Andy Fletcher came first for the second year running, but only just, with Tom Slater just being beaten into second place by 2 points. Steve Lynam and Paul Richmond were joint third, but after a draw on the tiebreak arm wrestling, Steve was given 3rd place on the toss of a coin.
The six events were as follows:
Bail Roll: Competing pairs large bails had to be rolled allong the course. with positions scored on times

Block Hold: Competitors, again in pairs hold up concrete blocks for as long as they are able.

Conner’s Wheel: A weighted oil drum is attached to a central pivot by scaffolding poles and individually competitors carry it in circles for as long a distance as possible.

Barrel Toss: Competitors through metal barrels of increasing weight over a high bar. Where more than one person achieves the same weight, the positions are then decided on time.

Pillar’s of Hercules: Two tree trunks have to be held up by ropes, one on each side. This is scored on length of time the trunks are held up.

Atlas’ Wheels: Tyres/wheels of increasing weight are lifted onto oil drums. Where competitors draw on the weights acheived, they are again differentiated by speed.

In addition to the main event there were a children’s and an adult’s tyre throwing competition.
The money raised by the event is to be donated to Parwich Primary School.
Live music was provided by our own The A52s; the Bar was laid on by Parwich British Legion Club; the Bar-B-Que was staffed by Jackie & Paul; Face Painting by Lucy Burlinson; and the Cakes Stall by Cathy Hazelwood.
The main sponsors of the event were Wigley Haulage, Ashbourne Aerials & TV Services, Ashbourne Romovals, ABC Groundworks, Hair by Lee & Co, Hambleton Stone Sales Ltd, Ashbourne Secretarial & Printing Services, Marshall Builders, Rob Keeling Plumbing and So Green Lawn Care, however a large number of other local businesses contributed prizes for the raffle.
