Parwich Lunch has now been running for 5 months and it is really becoming a significant date in the monthly village calendar. There is a good core of regulars and this week we welcomed some first timers, from the village, Ashbourne as well as London. More than 30 people sat down to a deliciously tasty and tender Lamb Hot Pot followed by a creamy Rice Pudding with plenty of skin for those that wanted it. There is always plenty of conversation, teasing and just a great atmosphere in the Hall over this lunchtime.
Why not come and join us next month on Monday April 16th; you really will be made to feel welcome, whether your 5, 50 or 100. All dietary requirements are catered for and the menu can be adjusted if you don’t like something: as long as Val knows in advance.
Finally what I’d really like to say is thank you, thank you to Val and Alison (Catering 4 Parwich) for the organisation, cooking and the creation of a really super occasion.

Thank you Jane for the lovely comments, Alison and I really enjoy cooking the lunch and being able to sit down with everyone and chat. We are really pleased with the the number of people who come and I really didn’t think that the lunches would take off like they have. We would also like to thank all our helpers, Sandra, Jane, Patti and Ben for delivering food to people in their homes, collecting people and for waiting on for us, without you all we could not
get the food out so quickly
I agree with you Jane – it’s such a lovely event. I really enjoy having lively, interesting conversations with people that I don’t often see and also meeting new people. I don’t know how Val and Alison manage to produce such great food for the price.
This week’s menu was lamb hot pot which I thought I didn’t like – well, I’ve now changed my mind! As for the rice pudding I have to confess to having second helpings – with skin – and then not having any room for supper that night.
If you are reading this and haven’t yet been to one of the lunches then please come. Mums or Dads with children would be very welcome. Come and meet people from the village that you would never normally see.
