Parwich Crown Green Bowls Club
Having had the euphoria and excitement of the Parwich Olympiad it is back to the grind of weekly league matches. Cant’ believe we have only a few left before the end of another season.
Matlock Tuesday League.
Away – 14 August – Ashwood Park, Buxton.
Ashwood are a few points ahead of us in the league and we don’t usually do well on their green. We had a good win against them on our green in May, but their green can be very tricky, and so it proved to be. We had two good wins and two not so good losses. Rick Manning and Edith Rider played brilliantly in their game and won 21- 8. This gave us a really good base, and even though we lost two games they were by not so great a margin as Ashwoods losses. The final outcome was 68 to Parwich, 65 to Ashwood Park. The 3 points we beat them by are not sufficient to lift us above them in the league, but hopefully we won’t drop any lower either.
Next match – Home – Chatsworth – 21 August 6.15pm.
Matlock Thursday Friendly League.
Away – Lafarge, Hope – 16 August.
Again in this league we are a few points behind Lafarge and in the game on our green earlier in the season we had a draw against them. In the doubles games we won two out of the three with Audrey and Harry Bunting winning really well by 21 points to 12. The score after the doubles was 52 Parwich, 43 Lafarge. Audrey also played in the singles games, because we were so short of players and had a great win 15-12. With the good start we had in the doubles and sharing the singles three all, the final score was 121 to Parwich, 119 to Lafarge. Again not quite enough points to take us above them in the league.
Next match – Home Matlock Park – 23 August – 1.45pm.
