One of Parwich’s longest standing residents died at New Year, our sympathy goes out to Val and her family.
The Funeral for my Dad, Sam Flower, will be held at 11am on Wednesday 16th January at St. Peters Church Parwich followed by lunch at the Memorial Hall to which all who attend the funeral are invited.
There will be a private cremation at Markeaton in the afternoon.

John and I will miss Sam greatly. When we first arrived in Parwich to live next door to him and Esther – his wife and Val’s mum – they were both very kind to us and Sam quickly took us under his wing. We soon discovered that behind the somewhat gruff exterior was a very generous, kind and thoughtful man who loved a quiet joke, whose company we enjoyed and whose very real help and kindness to us we greatly appreciated; over the ensuing 30 years Sam proved to be the best friend and neighbour anyone could possibly hope to have.
