Parwich Crown Green Bowls Club
Week 2 of the season and win one and lose one.
Matlock Tuesday League.
Away – 16 April – Bradwell B.
Ah well, our Edith was unfortunately struck down with a tummy bug, and we lost quite well! We also had players missing for other reasons, as a result we only just managed to get eight players. Bradwell are always difficult to beat and even more so own their own green. Out of the four games we did not manage to win any, although we came within one point of winning one game. In the end we lost 84 to 52. Hopefully we will have better fortune next week.
- Next match – Home – Matlock Bath. – 23 April 6.30pm.
Matlock Thursday Friendly League.
Away – Whitworth Park – 18 April.
So poor Edith was still under the weather and three other players were either visiting hospital for a follow-up or otherwise engaged, in consequence we had less than the 12 players needed. This meant that we were 6 points down before we began. However we did play very well. Although we lost the doubles 2 games to 1, we won the singles 6 games to 5. The final result was Parwich 137 Whitworth Park 121.
- Next – Home – Tideswell – 25 April – 1.45pm.
We enjoyed our first friendly game on Sunday at Hazelwood. The weather was also kind to us, but the wind was very cold.
Now do not fall off your perches, but we have just had two new members join the Club! Let us hope we get some more before long.
John B.
