With some sadness, I received the news from a friend that Mrs. Anne Cooper, the wife of the Rev Jack Cooper, passed away yesterday (Sunday April 21st) after a long battle with cancer. She would be known and remembered by many older village residents as the former Mrs Annie Lyon of Knob Hall, who taught at Belper, Fenny Bentley and other local schools. She also served as Clerk to the Parish Council and was generally prominent in village life before moving to the North East following Jack’s retirement.

My sympathy to Rev Copper. People in the village always speak of Ann with a warm smile on their faces, although I only met her twice I could not help but be impressed by her kindness and deep affection for Parwich.
Very sad to hear the news. Anne was a lovely person and both her and Rev. Jack were greatly missed by many people when they left.
I knew Anne as a very friendly and helpful lady. She was very knowledgable about life in Parwich and the surrounding villages. Her marriage to Jack, in the later years of her life was a happy gift. We send our sincere condolences to Jack.

Very sad news. Ann along with her mother, Mrs Slater were very warm and welcoming when l first moved to Parwich. A role model of a school teacher. Knob Hall will always be her home. RIP.
Anne Cooper was my aunt much loved by her first husband, my uncle, Douglas Lyon. I would like you to amend her surname – it is not Lyons. She was very warm, hospitable and capable and involved in the local community.
Thank you for your comment, and please accept our apologies for the error, which has now been amended.
Anne was an inspiration to me when I was a young teacher and influenced my career greatly. A lovely person, I am sure she will be sadly missed.
Finally managing to catch up with local news in this weeks stunner and I was saddened to read of the death of Rev. Jack on New Year’s Day. I have many fond memories of his time here, especially when he had the congregation sing happy birthday to me during our marriage service. My condolences to his family who have suffered two deep losses in such a short period of time.
