Parwich Crown Green Bowls Club
Matlock Tuesday League.
Home – 23 April – Matlock Bath.
We are not doing very well in this league after the great start we had in the first week. Thankfully Edith and Rick have been restored to full working order and Dawn and Clara won their game too. Although we won two games and Matlock won two, our overall scores in the ones we lost were not good. The final match outcome was Parwich 63, Matlock 71. After three matches we are fourth from bottom of the league with one win and two losses. Hopefully the only way is up!
- Next match – Away – Bakewell. – 30 April 6.30pm.
Matlock Thursday Friendly League.
Home – 25 April – Tideswell.
Tideswell are a very big club with lots of members to choose from, but occasionally David can beat Goliath. This was a really good match, with the outcome in doubt virtually until the last ‘wood’. We did not have a good start in the doubles games winning only one of the three. We were therefore trailing by 54 to 60. Having started really well in the six singles games winning the first three very well, Tideswell had put their best three players last. Although we lost the last three games we still came out on top by 68 points to 58, giving an overall score of 122 to Parwich and 118 to Tideswell. Three matches, three wins! And no points deducted for fewer players. Both teams using 12 people.
- Next match – Away – Baslow – 2 May – 1.45pm.
Our two new members are slowly getting to grips with the intricacies of Crown Green bowls, why not come along on Monday night and join them.
