Parwich Crown Green Bowls Club
Can’t claim two wins this week we were well and truly beaten on Tuesday night. Did great on Thursday though.
Matlock Tuesday League.
Away – 21 May – Chatsworth.
Again the weather was not kind to us nor was our ability on the green! We were short of players this week because of people on holiday. To cap it all we had 17 points deducted for completing the score card incorrectly. The league Secretary is a stickler for getting the card absolutely right, so a poor score became even poorer. We lost 81 to 54 less the 17! Edith and Rick however kept up their impressive winning run. Let us hope we fare better next week.
- Next match – Home – Buxton Park – 28 May 6.30pm.
Matlock Thursday Friendly League.
Home – Matlock Bath – 23 May.
Even after last week’s good, but low score win, we still managed to retain third place in the Division. We again played really well this week. We were still short of players for this game and could only put a team of 10 together instead of the required 12. Ian and Audrey had a fabulous win 21 – 9 in the doubles helping us to a 57 -42 point advantage with the singles to come. We only lost one of the six singles games. This gave us an overall win 140 to 103. Hopefully with this resounding win we will stay in third place in the league. Next week we have to go north to Hathersage. Not sure at all if we will maintain our 100% winning record there.
- Next match – Away – Hathersage – 30 May – 1.45pm.
We have a friendly game this weekend on Sunday at Ashbourne Park 2.00pm in the afternoon. These games are very enjoyable as it gives us a chance to play against teams who are not in our Leagues plus the afternoon tea the hosts provide is not bad either!!
