Parwich Crown Green Bowls Club
It was with a little trepidation to say the least that we played this week. Both our opponents being top of the respective leagues we play in, but more of that later. Firstly congratulations to Clara E for winning so convincingly the Senior Cup last Sunday not to forget her opponent Audrey B for putting up such a close match in the final. It is good to see new names on the Club’s trophies. Well done each of you.
Now to the ‘boring’ league matches.
Matlock Tuesday League.
Home – Hathersage – 11 June.
Hathersage are romping away with the division we play in and having been extremely well beaten in the Thursday League by them we were apprehensive as to the possible outcome. However, we put together some really good games. We shared them two games each, but Pat B and Harry B played a blinder winning 21 – 9. Dot H and Dennis E lost by the smallest margin possible 20 – 21. Thankfully Edith and Rick pulled out all the stops winning 21 – 7. With the other game also close, the final score was Parwich 77, Hathersage 58. Not bad for a team languishing third from bottom. Let’s hope we can keep it up next week when we play Matlock Golf Club.
- Next match – Away – Matlock Golf Club – 18 June, 6.30pm.
Matlock Thursday Friendly League
Away – Bradwell A – 13 June.
Top of the league, raining like mad, no worries! Although we did not win the match we more than held our own against Bradwell. Although we only won one doubles game we still managed to win on points 53 to 52. This was largely due to a fabulous win by Dennis E and Ian J coming out on top 21 to 10. For once we did not win the singles games either, only winning two out of the six. However the people who lost battled all the way. The final result was Bradwell 136, Parwich 129. Fantastic!
- Next match – Home – Chatsworth – 20 June – 1.45pm.
Another Club game this Sunday, ‘Open Doubles’. Will we see more new names on the trophy? Why not come along and have a look. We will be there rain or shine 2.00pm.
