Parwich Crown Green Bowls Club
Poor week this week. We played teams who we had beaten in the first half of the season quite comprehensively only to lose by virtually the same margin in the reverse fixture. It’s a funny old game!
Matlock Tuesday League.
Away – Matlock Park – 25 June.
Thank goodness we have Edith and Rick, they managed to come from well behind to win their game 21 – 15. Unfortunately all our other three doubles pairs came a cropper, although two of the games were very close. We are languishing down towards the bottom of the division and this result will not make things any better. Next week we play the team top of the league. Keep your fingers crossed.
- Next match – Home – Bradwell – 2 July 6.30pm.
Matlock Thursday Friendly League.
Home – Lafarge, Hope – 27 June.
Although we lost we did have some good games in the match. You may recall, or not as the case may be, that we had two new members join the club. The first new members for three years. Anyway this was their first foray into league matches and they did really rather well. Audrey B and Tony A won their game by the fabulous score of 21 – 8, whilst Sue A and Dennis E narrowly lost 21 – 14. What a start for them and us.
We shared the singles games three each, but our opponents in the matches that we won had better scores than our players in the games we lost, if you can understand that. The final score was therefore 127 Lafarge and 111 to Parwich. We were fifth in the division, but we may well drop a place or two after this result.
- Next match – Home – Whitworth – 4 July – 1.45pm.
No game this weekend because of Wakes Week. Keep your fingers crossed that the weather is kind to us.
John B.
