Calling all dog walkers, does anyone know of a safe area or field where we can let our spaniel puppy off the lead, attempting to practice his recall, (fingers crossed).
Thanks

It’s a while since I have walked a dog, but the useful near places I used include the foot path from Creamery Lane (behind the loos) towards Dodd’s Dill and the one towards Alsop just above the School, though it depends whether or not there are stock in the fields. Also have a think about the trails (High Peak and Tissington) at quiet times as they are mainly fenced on either side so there is nowhere except along them for a dog to run.
Thank you for the info I’ll certaily give them a go 🙂
Hi Dawn,
It would be polite to check with the farmer owning those fields to make sure they are happy for you to do train your dog off the lease. A public footpath on privately owned land only entitles us to pass and re pass. The trails generally have wider uses.
Thanks Patti, I would certainly check before letting my puppy off in a farmer’s field, dogs and livestock are not usually a good mix, may try one of the many trails in the area.
