PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB
Now the scary thing is that we are playing quite well and have only lost one match so far, and that was a close call.
Matlock Tuesday bowls league.
Away – Matlock Bath – 22 April
As I mentioned last week we are so short of players that Audrey B had to step in and help us out and she helped us out with a vengeance. Audrey playing like a demon and just about assisted by John B won the game 21 – 13. Dennis and Clara E also came up winners 21 – 17. Rick, without his usual sidekick Edith, won brilliantly with Dot a fabulous substitute playing equally like a demon. Our remaining pair only just lost their game 21 – 17. The overall score therefore was Parwich 80, Matlock 62. Not bad for a scratch team.
To cap it all we are still miraculously TOP OF THE LEAGUE!
- Next match – Home – Chatsworth – 29 April – 6.30pm.
Matlock Thursday Friendly League.
Home – Matlock Park – 24 April
I some time ago that you need 12 players in the Thursday league otherwise you can get penalised points for short numbers, well this week were 2 people down. This meant that we would be deducted 6 points from our overall score.
I mentioned Audrey B stepping up to play in the Tuesday league and playing like a demon well today she played like an angel. With Dennis E playing equally stunning bowls they came out winning 21 – 1. What a score for us. Although we did not win either of the two remaining games, because of the great score in the game we won, we still came out on top in the doubles 56 – 43.
Last week our normally strong singles players were well beaten. This week even though we had people missing we came out on top winning 82 – 55, with Rick M winning 15 – 3. With the six point deduction Parwich still won the match 132 – 98, a terrific score considering.
- Next match – Away – Whitworth Park – 1 May 1.15pm.
So where are all of you Parwichians. Your bowls club needs you. Stop watching repeats on the tele and do something sensible for a change. You will be surprised how fit you can get walking up and down and across a bowling green, so come and HAVE A GO.
John B.
