The Poll here at parwich.org on Scottish independence provoked a vigorous response. At 3pm today (Wednesday 17th September), the results were as follows:
Do you have significant Scottish links?
- 38% Yes
- 62% No
Would Scottish independence impact on us here (in the Peak District)?
- 47% Yes
- 41% No
- 12% Don’t know
Should Scotland be an independent country?
- 36% Yes
- 63% No
- 1% Don’t know
This indicates a significant minority (38%) of our respondents have strong ties to Scotland, that overall we are split on the impact of Scottish independence on us here in the Peak District (a difference of 6%), but that a majority (63%) of us want the Union to continue. Well tomorrow is the actual referendum day and we will find out on Friday what Scotland votes.

Just noticed that this is confused even more by the comments being shown as GMT rather than BST. We will have to contact Mike A in the wilds of Yorkshire, as he is the one that used to switch the Blog between BST and GMT.
It seems we are now capable of time travel – I make it just after 3pm,
Well spotted, it should read 3pm. Now corrected.
The above comments are shown as GTM. For BST add an hour. Hopefully this has been corrected for future comments, until we forget again when the clock changes back.
