Aaahhh, my favourite topic: Recycling and Bins!
Let’s see: so for the usual Monday collection the bin(s) go out 2 days earlier in the previous week, whilst a week later the collection day will remain the same, which is 9 days later than the previous collection. But which bin(s) are they talking about, green, blue, black, caddy?
Oh no, isn’t our collection normally on a Wednesday? So, our bin(s) will be collected on a different day than usual, but only 1 day earlier and in the same week, whilst the next collection remains on the same day but 8 days after the previous collection. I’m still not sure what colour bin to put out and on what day …. Perhaps I’ll leave them all out for two weeks so our cheerful and kind bin-men can pick and choose. Actually, it seems easier simply to copy what my neighbours do, but there is always the risk that they do the same and the whole village ends up putting out the wrong bins?!
And whilst on the topic of ‘recycling’, I am still unsure what to do with the pile of toxic old copies of the NotW newspapers that are in my garage. I wonder whether I can put them with the rest of the paper collection. May-be I should dispose of them at the ‘Hazardous waste’ collection point?
Thankfully, my grandchildren are now no longer ‘babies’ as I have hesitated in the past to throw them out with the bathwater, which I was told, is the traditional method used by the British of recycling them. I am surprised that the EU hasn’t yet taken the UK to court over this strange, but very British practice. I’m very certain that it doesn’t happen in the other EU countries! May-be that’s why certain politicians/political parties want to get out of the EU, so there is no chance any longer that the EU will be able to challenge these good old-fashioned British customs.
Back to the bins: I am really hopeful that the blog team will kindly remind us nearer the time what bin(s) to put out and when ….
Just go to the Blog’s Diary Page, it is much easier:
Christmas Bin Collections
Also you can put Christmas trees out on the Green bin days, which means Wednesday 14th January.
I usually put out the bins that are almost full. This is reliant upon the fact that if its not the correct week they will only be 50% full. However Chistmas could be confusing as we will be recycling the million tonnes of wrapping paper and cardboard which will result in the drive being full of cardboard and boxes for weeks. Thank you for the schedule Peter, most helpful.
