Most dog owners are very responsible, but unfortunately those few that are not may give rise to considerable irritation:
This MUST stop!
Who on earth allows their dog(s) to roam and/or foul repeatedly and habitually on our shared drive off Creamery Lane? Almost always in the same spot, but sometimes also in our gardens.
It has gone on for months and months, and then stopped for a few weeks, only to start again a couple of weeks ago. A little earlier yesterday I found 5 piles, yes FIVE, one of which looked more like a pile of ‘sick’ with –what looked like- (dried) peas mixed in. The piles must have been deposited in a period of no more than 24 hours. It’s disgusting and it MUST stop. Why should I be clearing up after other people’s dogs? Dog owners: take FULL responsibility for your pooches!
Do you know whose dog(s) could be responsible, then let the PPC know and they will follow it up, possibly via the local police lady who has offered to help with this persistent and widespread problem.
This time it’s my exasperated words, next time I’ll post some pictures of steaming piles ….
Saskia T
On a personal note, I can sympathise: being opposite Saskia and having had to clear dog mess (medium to large sized dog, fed on dried food) most mornings for about a week before Christmas; from my lawn, gravel drive and even from some plants in pots.

That is absolutely disgusting Saskia, suggest you buy a cheap motion sensitive video camera, theres plenty on e-bay, and try to catch the little blighters at it.
Tony, I have indeed considered doing just that: borrowing or buying a motion-sensitive camera as a last resort. I don’t want to (have to) do that, and would hate to have to go to such extremes. There must be a more amicable solution …. but everyone in the village must help to tackle this widespread problem.
I am very much aware that the problem is equally rife around the school, the playground, in other people’s gardens, the park, etc.and is not confined to our drive alone.
I feel sorry for parents with young children as it is impossible to prevent children from stepping into piles occasionally. Let’s hope that the situation will improve over time, as it only seems to have been getting worse and worse recently.
Yes I agree , that everyone who owns a dog should be responsible for there welfare and for ensuring that any waste products they leave should be cleared up and disposed of properly. I also believe that horse owners should also clear up the poo left on the roads and pavements by thier animals. No offence ment to anyone.
As a resident of Rathbone croft & a dog owner , we too have piles of dog mess all along the grass verges, Dales housing have complained to all house holders about this problem. But what can they do nothing, inform all tenants that they must clear up their dog mess.
For goodness sake dog poo bags/ nappy sacks are available or any bag would do.
Its lazyness of the dog ownwer’s that shift this disgusting problem onto ALL dog owners, I always clear up after my dog and also other dog mess around the village,so if anyone who is out and about i do have spare bags in my pocket.
