Thank you to DDDC’s Democratic Team Leader for clarifying the position regarding the Parish Council nominations:
The two candidates will be declared elected unopposed but they will not be able to act as Councillors until a quorum is obtained. The Returning Officer will call another election after 7 May (this will probably take place mid to end of June) and a poll will be held if there are more candidates than vacancies. If, however, the candidates that come forward are less than or equal to the number of vacancies, they will also be elected unopposed and, provided it is then quorate, the Council will be able to function again.

I would encourage people to raise this opportunity with residents (especially other young people) who may not be regular visitors to the blog. Is there a budget to advertise the vacancy in the local paper, or could someone like Gareth Butterfield do an article on it in the stunner to raise the profile of the positions on offer in the run up to calling an election in May?
