Over the last 3 weeks we’ve had reports of 3 accidents and a number of other drivers mentioning minor slides on black ice on the B5056 near the Tissington ford. The stretch of road in question is the 300-400m between the ford turning and the sharp left bend in the direction of Ashbourne.

This stretch seems to sit in a frost pocket and with the flow of water from the saturated fields above washing any grit away black ice is forming along the road. Please drive with extra care over this stretch particularly on early frosty mornings.

Though the weather is quite mild just now the forecast does show several cold nights with the risk of frost over the next couple of weeks.
Safe driving!
